Please read our Mission and Guidelines below before Joining and submitting art to our group. O U R . M I S S I O N This group aims to feature compelling, aesthetically strong, and meaningful artwork that largely hovers around the theme of Anthropomorphism. Anthropomorphism: is the conceptual philosophy involving the projection of human physical or behavioral traits onto anything that is not human. (also known in literature as personification). Our mission is to work towards a real art world appreciation of the theme of Anthro by featuring artists and artworks that have great potential to shine in galleries, tradeshows and exhibitions outside of the internet and its culture. We want to develop an appreciation for Anthro art beyond film and television, beyond comics, and beyond the fandom. W H A T . W E . L O O K . F O R We hold the artwork we want to feature accountable to the three criteria of Art Criticism in the real art world: FORMALIST ISSUES TECHNICAL EXECUTION CONCEPTUAL DELIVERY Not every piece of art is strong in all three of these criteria and this is why Art is a subjective thing. We look for art that can answer at least half of the questions above with great strength. Answer all of these questions to yourself before submitting to our gallery. These are things we will be looking for in your piece. W H A T . W E . A C C E P T Because we are a gallery group that advocates postmodernism and contemporary art, we accept a variety of media. However, we are sticking to media that could be showcased in an actual Art Gallery. -painting -drawing -collage -painting -drawing -collage -Mixed media -Printmaking -Modeling (clay, metal, mixed media Non-functional sculpture) -Costumery (fursuit & functional sculpture) H O W . W E . J U R Y . T H E . A R T . (RULES FOR SUBMITTING) STEP 1]. Become a member by joining our group! STEP 2]. Go to our Gallery and Submit the piece you wish to be juried in the appropriate folder. TWO submissions per week. STEP 3]. ....profit? Artist Exposure Folder Submissions This folder will be open to Contributors to submit artwork that is not for jury on a weekly basis. 3 submissions per week per Contributor. Contributors still follow the same routine for regularly juried pieces. How do I become a Contributor? Contributors are chosen by staff members of the group from Members who actively participate, suggest favorites, and promote anthro art appreciation. Favorites & Art from the Community Folder Any Member can suggest an unlimited amount of favorites per day. The Feature folder will be voted on. The "Art from the Community" folder is open for you as a member to submit to whenever you like! This folder is not juried, however; please only submit artwork that shows good effort. The staff may be looking through that folder for additions to our gallery. Audience and Maturity Rating We at HausOfAnthro, accept mature artwork submissions but like all the art juried here, we are looking for artwork that helps our mission. We do not accept any submissions that violate deviantART's TOS. Reasons for submission rejection We will not be giving out specific reasons for turning down pieces. If we decline your artwork, it is because we feel it is not meeting the criteria we are looking for. We encourage you to continue growing as an artist and submit again in the future. Being declined doesn't mean you are a bad artist or that your art is bad. It just means you have been exposed to the subjectivity of a gallery juror. We at HausOfAnthro think it is important to introduce the reality of the real art world with this particular group. In reality, when you submit to a juried exhibition, you are not given a reason why your submission was declined. (or even accepted). There are tons of groups on dA that will offer reason for rejection. This group juries like a New York City art gallery-- meant as an educational experience for you. What opportunities are there to get my work exposed here outside of jury? As listed above, members can use our favorites "Art from the Community" folder which is unlimited, and Contributors can use the "Artist Exposure" folder in the gallery 3 times per week. The staff also hand-picks artwork from all over dA....and we frequently snoop through our favorites *hint hint* C O M M U N I T Y L I N K Anthro Frontpage || What Is Anthro? || #AnthroCommunity G R O U P S .
